Somatic Therapy

Somatic Therapy

Somatic Therapy is designed to address lingering effects of trauma and stress-related conditions that build up in the body and nervous system over time. Trauma is understood through the way it manifests within the nervous system and how that imbalance influences daily living. When someone becomes caught in survival responses such as fight, flight, or freeze, Somatic work supports the process of releasing these patterns, restoring balance, regulation, building greater capacity and strengthening resilience. The framework integrates knowledge from physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, & Indigenous healing methods.

Key Benefits: This technique works by helping the body process and discharge unresolved shock, allowing deeply rooted survival patterns to shift so they no longer disrupt everyday life. It can assist in addressing PTSD as well as trauma rooted in early developmental and attachment trauma. The approach also provides a structured way to recognize when someone is locked into fight, flight, or freeze responses, along with practical clinical strategies to help restore flexibility and balance within the nervous system. Somatic can complement talk therapy, EMDR, and other healing modalities by addressing the physiological components of stress and trauma.
